The movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli refers to a global campaign designed to coerce Israel into complying with international law respecting the Palestinian human rights. Initiated in 2005, one year after the historic International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion on the illegality of Israel’s Wall in the occupied Palestinian territories, Palestinian civil society groups put out a call to ‘people of conscience’ across the globe, asking them to enact broad boycotts, implement divestment initiatives, and to demand sanctions against Israel until Palestinian rights are recognized in full compliance under international law.
