An 18 year old Palestinian, Hudhayfah Ali Suleiman, was killed by Israeli forces Sunday night during clashes at a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

Haaretz reports that Suleiman was fatally shot in the chest by Israeli forces. At least four others sustained injuries from live fire during the clashes near Tulkarem, and six others from smoke inhalation and rubber bullets.

Clashes broke out across the West Bank Saturday and Sunday after four Israelis were killed and three injured in one confirmed and one alleged stabbing attack by Palestinians in Jerusalem.

The perpetrators, Fadi Alloun and Muhannad Halabi, both 19, were both shot dead on the scene of the two separate incidents.

On Sunday, Israeli police closed off the Old City to Palestinians, permitting the entrance of only Israeli citizens, residents of the area, tourists, business people and students of the Old City.

Clashes took place across the West Bank, including in Jenin, Hebron, and at the D.C.O. checkpoint near Ramallah, as well as in the East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Issawiya.

Early Monday morning, Israeli forces entered the the family home of Muhannad Halabi, one of the perpetrators of the Jerusalem stabbing attacks.

Forces entered the village of Surda from different directions, and used teargas, stun grenades and live ammunition to disperse the group of Palestinian youths who had gathered to defend the Halabi family home, Haaretz reports.

The forces searched the home and interrogated Halabi’s father, but have not yet demolished the home.

After a meeting with the Ministry of Defense Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, "we are waging a war to the death against Palestinian terrorism”, Ynet News reports.

He continued, "I've ordered a series of additional steps in order to prevent terror and to deter and punish the attackers."

These new steps will include the increased deployment of Israeli forces across the West Bank  and East Jerusalem alongside the demolition of the perpetrators homes and the use of administrative detention.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society told Ma’an News Agency that at least 220 Palestinians have been injured during clashes with Israeli forces since Saturday, including 28 by live ammunition.

The Red Crescent declared a level 3 state of emergency Sunday, due to an escalation of violence across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The PLO has criticised Israel for its "collective punishment" of the Palestinian people.
