3 Palestinians killed, 11 injured in Friday clashes

On Friday, three Palestinians were killed and at least 11 injured by Israeli forces in separate events throughout in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.


A Palestinian man was shot after carrying a stabbing attack that wounded two Israeli police officers outside Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem, IDF spokesperson confirmed.


The Palestinian, identified as 20 year old Muhammad Abu Khalaf from the town of Kafr Aqab in northern East Jerusalem, drew a knife at Israeli police officers.


Israeli forces responded, opening fire and killing Abu Khalaf. The area was closed to heighten security, Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said.


In the occupied West Bank village of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem, a young Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces during clashes between the Israeli army and Palestinian protesters.


The Palestinian, identified as Khaled Yousif Taqatqa, 21, was shot during protests and died of his injuries at Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem.


According to Ma’an News Agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent was prevented by Israeli forces from reaching the scene to provide with Taqatqa medical assistance.


In a separate incident in the occupied West Bank city of Silwad northeast of Ramallah, a Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces after he allegedly attempted a car ramming attack during violent clashes in the area.


Israeli military forces responded with live fire, killing the Palestinian on site, who was identified as Abed Raed Abdullah Hamad. No Israelis were injured in the incident.


At least nine Palestinians were shot and one detained Friday during clashes with Israeli forces across occupied Palestinian territories.


In the Gaza Strip, three Palestinians were injured with live fire near the al-Shujayya area of Gaza city, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed. The three are in stable condition.


In the occupied West Bank, Palestinians were shot and detained during clashes in Ramallah, Bethlehem and Beit El, Ma’an News Agency reported.


In the Jalazone refugee camp north of Ramallah, two Palestinian teenagers were injured by live fire and a third detained in clashes with Israeli forces.


Near the illegal settlement of Beit El Israeli forces fired live bullets and rubber-coated steel bullets at protesters, as well as tear gas, as Palestinians threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers..


In the northern entrance of Bethlehem, two Palestinians were injured with live fire by Israeli forces when clashes broke out in the area.


More than 170 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of a wave of unrest in the occupied Palestinian territories that started in Oct. 2015.


The majority of these deaths occurred following attempted attacks on Israeli forces and settlers carried by Palestinians armed with knifes. Over 25 Israelis have been reported killed since the beginning of the attacks.
