64 year old Maysara Abuhamdia, imprisoned by the Israeli occupation since 2002 and sentenced to 99 years, died on Tuesday, April 2 in Saroka hospital shackled to his bed.

Abuhamdia suffered from throat cancer, and was only given chemotherapy sessions in March, despite complaining of affliction since August 2012. According to his lawyer Rami al-Alami, Abuhamdia was only taken a maximum of three times to the hospital between August and December 2012, where Israeli medical personnel ran tests on him but refused to tell him he had cancer. The following month, Abuhamdia lost his voice completely.

The death of Abuhamdia and Israel's intended medical negligence for the prisoners sparked protests throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with a demonstration held in Haifa the same night he passed away. In Abuhamdia's hometown of Hebron, youth threw rocks at the occupation soldiers, who responded with tear gas and rubber bullets resulting in a number of injuries.

The next day on April 3, a general trade strike was observed in East Jerusalem, Hebron, and Nablus. At night, a spontaneous protest took off in the Tulkarem town of Anabta, where Palestinian youth reached the Annab military checkpoint and chanted for Maysara Abuhamdia. The Israeli army opened fire, killing 17 year old Amer Nassar in the chest.

The Israeli soldiers prevented ambulance crews from reaching Amer's body for 30 minutes, and shot at one of the protesters who tried to get close to him.

At 5 am, the body of the second victim, 17 year old Naji Balbisi, was found after he was missing for a few hours. Naji was shot in the head.

The funerals of the two teenagers from Anabta are due to take place today in Tulkarem, Maysara Abuhamdia's funeral will also take place today in Hebron, after Israeli authorities handed his body over yesterday for Palestinian medical staff to perform an autopsy on him.
