A 21 year old Palestinian man was killed during clashes with Israeli soldiers in south Hebron early Tuesday morning.
There are conflicting reports of how Diyaa Abdul-Halim Talahmah died.
Ma’an News Agencyhas reported local popular committee spokesman, Ratib al-Jubour, as saying that the young man was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers during a raid near the village of Khursa.
However, an Israeli army spokesperson has stated that "initial inquiries suggest the suspect attempted to hurl an IED at an army vehicle when it detonated.”
The spokesperson claimed that Israeli soldiers heard the explosion and discovered the body after investigating.
Haaretz also reports that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described soldiers opening fire on the young man as they believed he was attempting to throw an IED towards them.
An 18 year old Palestinian woman has also been critically injured after being shot by Israeli soldiers in Hebron this morning. The woman allegedly tried to stab an Israeli soldier at the Kikar Hashoter checkpoint, Haaretz reports.
Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers have been taking place across the West Bank this week in response to events at Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Clashes are expected to continue throughout the week when Jewish and Muslim holidays overlap.
