On Tuesday evening, a Palestinian man, identified as Hammam Said, 23, was shot and killed in Hebron following an alleged knife attack on an Israeli soldier.

Said was shot dead at a checkpoint in the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron.

Earlier Tuesday evening, two Palestinians were shot dead near the Israeli Gush Etzion settlement south of Bethlehem.

Shabaan Abu Shkeidem, 17, and Shadi Nabil Abd al-Muti Dweik, 22, had allegedly attempted to stab a 19 year old Israeli soldier.

At least 60 Palestinians and 9 Israelis have now been killed since the beginning of October. More than half of the Palestinians killed have been shot dead following alleged knife attacks on Israelis.

On Tuesday, Amnesty International condemned Israel’s excessive use of force, stating that “Israeli forces have carried out a series of unlawful killings of Palestinians using intentional lethal force without justification.”

Philip Luther, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Amnesty International, said, “there is mounting evidence that, as tensions have risen dramatically, in some cases Israeli forces appear to have ripped up the rulebook and resorted to extreme and unlawful measures.”

“They seem increasingly prone to using lethal force against anyone they perceive as posing a threat, without ensuring that the threat is real.”
