RAMALLAH—MP Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, said on Saturday that the murder of Hamza Abu al-Hija, Mahmoud Abu Zeina and Yazan Jabarin by armed Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp is evidence that there is no security for the Palestinian people. Dr. Barghouti said that Saturday morning’s killings are yet another example of Israel’s cold-blooded disregard for Palestinian lives.
MP Barghouti added that Saturday’s killings raised the number of Palestinians killed by Israel to 54 since the start of the negotiations in July 2013, evidence that Israel has been using the cover of negotiations to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people and land
MP Barghouti said that the Israeli armed forces’ storming of Area A, a region placed under full Palestinian control via the Oslo Accords, represents a blatant disregard for agreements that no longer exist in practice.
MP Barghouti called on the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israel for its crimes against the Palestinian people, stressing that such blatant violations should not go unpunished.
MP Barghouti also stressed that there is an alternative approach to the current round of failing negotiations—an escalation of the popular resistance movement as well as an increase of boycotts and sanctions on Israel. He called on the Palestinian people to unite and confront the occupation together.
